THE MOVIE BUFF CLUB
WELCOME TO THE MOVIE BUFF CLUB
A community of film lovers from EOI Salamanca & EOI Melilla
ABOUT US
We are a group of B1-level students of English as a foreign language from EOI Salamanca and EOI Melilla, working together in the distance in a collaborative project within Escuelas Amigas. We are a community passionate about the 7th art, dedicated to exploring the diversity and depth of cinema. Our aim is to provide a safe and welcoming space for film lovers to meet, share their experiences and learn together. We have been meeting regularly to talk about cinema, creating a space for debate and discussion. We explored topics related to filmmaking, from directing, acting and production to music.
Our movie club is open to all levels of experience. Whether you're a seasoned cinephile or a casual fan, there's a place for you in our community! In addition, our club has also organised special events to further enrich the film experience.
Join our film club and become part of an exciting and enriching community - we'd love to have you as part of our film family!
Actor / Actress of the week
As a film club, we meet weekly to talk about and share our impressions of different film topics. In this case, we focused on sharing and then debating about who we consider to be the best actor or actress of the week. It was very enriching to see that we had very different but very interesting opinions at the same time.
We wanted to give a twist to this topic and we focused on the physical and personal traits of the chosen actors/actresses. In this way, we put into practice the vocabulary and grammar we had learnt that week in class.
Don't hesitate to have a look at our interventions in the following Padlet...they are really worth it!
Soundtrack of the week
Having discussed the actors/actresses of the week, we moved on to talk about music. This time, we discussed what we consider to be the soundtrack of the week. Before sharing our impressions, we talked about composers of famous songs and/or soundtracks, the most internationally known ones, and the name of two composers came up repeatedly: Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer. We are sure you've heard songs by Morricone such as Once Upon a Time in the West or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. From Zimmer you will surely know The Pirates of the Caribbean series or Gladiator.
If you want to listen to the songs we have chosen as the best soundtracks of the week, don't think twice and access our Padlet:
Coffee Talks
In our film club, we love to share our opinions about our favourite films. We believe that discussion is a fundamental part of film enjoyment, as it allows us to delve deeper into the plot, explore deeper themes and ultimately have a more enriching experience.
Some of our favourite films include The Godfather, City of God, Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction or The Grand Budapest Hotel. Each of these films has something special that drew us in and left us with a lasting impression (don't miss the video below!).
We love to talk about the cinematographic techniques used in these films, such as direction, cinematography and production design. But we are also passionate about discussing the deeper themes that are addressed in these films, such as family, injustice and friendship.
In our film club, we do not only share our opinions on our favourite films, but we are also open to discovering new genres, styles and directors. We believe that film is a constantly evolving art form, and we are excited to explore what the future holds.
